It's really frustrating that the doctors won't set up some sort of standardization! A rotation diet is a menu based on the food families. You only eat one food from a family every three or four days. So he would eat millet(grain) on Day 1 but not again until Day 4. He can eat first cousins(foods from the same family but not the same food) on Day 3. Day 1 he eats millet(grain) on Day 3, he eats rice(grain). The Allergy Self-Help Cookbook has a great explanation of rotation diets. The theory is that by rotating the foods you don't allow their immune systems to develop their attack response to the foods. Thus allowing their systems to heal, and ultimately stop reacting at all. We switched to this diet because L started developing allergies to anything he ate regularly. It worked wonders. We did a 3 day rotation mainly because I was exhausted and overwhelmed at the time. There's a label on my blog outlining some menus. Let me know if you want some help designing one for Nathan.Funky Food Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12171787519141815861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5100005378376291229.post-77236240413194589142011-04-27T21:54:48.767-04:002011-04-27T21:54:48.767-04:00Thanks!! It's crossed my mind, but our allergist talks about how un-standarized it is, and doesn't believe it it right now... she is involved in all sorts of research about EE, and I have faith in her reasoning right now, but I may push for it at some point. I am willing to try just about anything to help Nathan out! Haven't heard about the rotation diet, can you explain?Nathan's Mommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06846410600019242457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5100005378376291229.post-29194656084874307002011-04-27T20:41:38.586-04:002011-04-27T20:41:38.586-04:00He is ridiculously cute! The other option that we've had really good luck with is a rotation diet. Big yahoo! for the weight gain!!Funky Food Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12171787519141815861noreply@blogger.com
